I just did a fairly standard common APP plusApr 09 2009Linguistics
I just did a fairly standard common APP plus the NYU supplement. An essay about how much you love and work with children/the elderly/the community would not go amiss. You don't have to mean it, you just have to say it (which pretty much summarizes the NYU experience). Pretend to care, and you will be accepted. A year at NYU will kill your ability to pretend, but I guess some people love it....

I studied and I wrote a pretty good essay. If you are dead set on coming here, don't let the academics scare you. If NYU is one of the schools that you are considering, I would advise you to think twice, but write a good essay and you are golden.

I was a high high high over-achiever in myNov 28 2007Education
I was a high high high over-achiever in my high school attending and holding leadership roles in a vast number of clubs and activities. I was on honor roll and had some worldly life experiences I drew upon for my admission essay. Lots of students here are well traveled and worldly.

NYU is all about people who are quirky, eccentric,Oct 10 2007Perfomance Arts
NYU is all about people who are quirky, eccentric, and ardently passionate about whatever it is they are interested in. Really talk about what makes you tick and do it in your own way. Don't worry about fitting into some model or mold. No one will hold your hand here. Show that you know what you want and you have the level of maturity to deal with so much freedom. Don't take yourself too seriously. I wrote an essay about my favorite fictional character - a very silly one. If you're a person who will be happy in New York City, show it.
